National Grid has announced plans to raise £3.2bn from shareholders to spend on adapting the UK's power networks for renewable sources of energy, reports the BBC.

A "fundamental restructuring" of the UK's entire energy system will be needed by 2050 to meet future energy demand and emissions targets, according to a report published by the Royal Academy of Engineering, reports New Energy Focus.
